Wedding Finances...

One of the best things about planning our wedding was the finances! Mr. Pancakes and i were on opposite ends of the financial spectrum.  I am the free spirit in our relationship while he is the nerd, as daveramsey.com would refer to us.  I like to spend, he likes to save. In theory and most of our daily activities, it works fine, however planning a wedding was a little difficult.
However as the wedding planning started and months trickled away, he convinced me to move toward the center.   And am i glad he did.  He told me that if we had a budget...a lower budget to start of with then we can spend a little more if need be.  And you know what ladies? it actually worked.  By starting off with  a lower budget, we made out in a very decent way.  We did not over spend and if anything, we came out ahead in the green and not the red! Glad that i listened to Mr. Pancakes on the budget.
Not only were we able to pay cash for everything for our wedding, we also paid for our honeymoon.  I am glad to say with a lot of team work, some coaching financially from Mr. Pancakes, we came on top! And we still have some money in the bank! As i like to say GOooooo Team Pancakes!!!!

What financial decision have you made recently that made you say GO Team _____________(fill in the blanks)?

  1. That's awesome!! Max & I have been saving, saving, saving for a while now in anticipation of a move and we just got some news that maybe we'll have a little supplemental income after all of this is over -- which is AMAZING!

  3. I love newlyweds! I can relate the wedding budget scenario. My husband and I were on different sides too when we planned our wedding. I wanted to charge everything while he insisted on saving and not having any wedding debt. He eventually brought me over to the nerd side, LOL! Now we have budgets for everything, even entertainment. :-)
Thanks for stopping by Marlie and Me and sorry it took so long to repay the kindness...Blogger was down for two days

  6. I loved your comment you left on my site thank you so much. When it comes to money in our home I save my hubby will spend it, now don't get me wrong we discuss what we are spending especially when it comes to big purchases. I've always been taught to save it, at least save something back. As my husband tells people I can make a dollar go far..lol I laugh but it's true I know how to save and make it last. Great post by the way.

  7. I love your blog. It's so cute just like your name. When I first saw your name I thought it was a cooking blog, but it's really neat. I like it. Congratulations on the new marriage. This post is great because it shows that you all already have a great foundation set for your marriage; good communication and willing to compromise. I need me a Mr. Pancake too to help me with my spending problems lol!

  12. That was a great decision. Hubs and I also paid cash for both wedding and honeymoon. It gives you a sense of freedom doesn't it? Knowing you're moving forward without any debt looming. Go team Pancakes!!!
