Marriage Mockery in the Media!

Happy November lovely blog readers!
________________________________________

I know most of us don't get our values about marriage in the media however there are some that do.
And I know i just got into the marriage game
BUT i wanted to get on my soap box today to tell some people
to STOP making marriage a mockery in the media.
I am not talking about people that actually TRY to make their marriages work against all odds.
I am talking to those that get married just to get married.
Marriage is a life long committment and if you are NOT willing to try til the end...
just STOP IT...
don't get in the game.
I am talking about the celebrities/people that get married just to get married.
I know Nike says: Just do it
BUT for those that are making a mockery of marriage in the media,
Just stop it!

2nd marriage; 72 days
1st Marriage, One month

Two marriages: 1st marriage-55hours
Two Marriage, 2nd one, married 2weeks
Marriage is difficult, at least give it sometime to work through your STUFF,
more than several weeks and months!
Stop marriage mockery in the media...just stop it!
Thank goodness, there are good ones out there,
they don't always make news in the media,
of course successful marriages doesn't sell,
but they do exist in the media, blogland and in real life!

Married 29 years
Denzel Washington and Wife

but at least they are still together!
Dating for 25 years!

  1. I just posted about the same thing! It's ridiculous!

  2. I am so sick of it all, I was so upset when I heard this news, not because it was Kim K and Kris (I don't follow the show or anything) but that there was another couple making fun of marriage. She got a pretty easy paycheck for the whole shindig at 17.5M so now it all seems like it was a job. A well planned out job. But when you mix official marriage in there it becomes messy for the rest of us who work hard everyday at it! Its a shame.

  3. I think value of many things isn't the same anymore. My first marriage ended after 5 years so maybe I'm not one to talk, but in the end I left because It just wasn't working. (of course there's more personal stuff than I'm willing to air) There is a new show starting on tv by Malcolm Jamal Warner and Tracey Ross it's like a new age Huxtables and they actually started the show because of this same thing, they were tired of marriage being mocked in the media, tired of the negative examples out there.

  4. I couldn't believe this, but I've learnt not to say anything about other people's marriage or relationships. But I do agree with what you've said Mrs. Pancakes. At the end of the day, we've been married 506 days (not that I'm counting ;)) and that's the only marriage I comment on <3

  5. I am so with you. It's a disgrace really. To tell you the truth I actually was surprised how strongly I felt about it. I guess to each his own but at the same time I can't help but think this was some sort of publicity stunt. I mean if they hadn't gotten married in such a lavish way maybe my thoughts would be different but they put it all out there for all to see so they're asking for it.

  6. Oh I forgot to say I didn't even now their marriage ended till reading your blog. I didn't even know Solange Knowles' marriage ended....I'm so late on all this news. Lol!

  7. i agree completely. it's sad! what are they thinking when they get married?..."oh, i guess we'll try this out". its just not ok.

    cheers.

  9. I agree with you! Marriage is a serious thing, it's a commitment, and people don't take it seriously!

  10. I agree! Marriage isn't a walk in the park everyday...it takes work....work that will take more than 72 days! lol

  11. Yes, I agree, though in Kim's case, I don't think it was really a lack of willingness to work through their "issues." I think the entire marriage was a publicity stunt that they cashed in on big-time, which is just as bad. Marriage is not a big game or joke, and these types of people make me so angry!

  12. Seriously! it's so annoying. it makes me never want to date anyone in hollywood... not that that would ever happen anyways. but what a turn off!

  13. It's the media and more than half of the world. There is no appreciation or value for marriage anymore. Imagine what the next generation (our children) will deal with. Hence the importance of strong teaching and examples by those like us who still believe in the MOST important unit for a functioning society!

  14. I agree 100%!!! This is situation is a shame! The sad part is celebrities feel they need to marry everyone they are with, what happened to dating the person then getting engaged and taking time to plan a wedding. Just because you have money and can do it right away doesnt mean it should be done that fast!

  15. I am right there with you. I'm glad people are speaking out about this foolishness. I know we don't know her personally, but we know BS when we see it and to make a mockery out of marriage when so many people are fighting to make their marriage better and just to have the right to get married, I think this was just crazy.

And what's even more crazy is the fact that Kris seemed to geniunely have been duped in the process. She released a statement implying he knew they were getting a divorce and he claims he was clueless. He just thought she was going home on a work trip and visit family. Now, that is just plain simply disrespectful!! Then she jets off to Australia where her ex bodyguard/one time boyfriend Shango lives to avoid all the media.

This is just a new a low. After 72 days you're still adjusting to married life and trying to compromise and get used to being around each other 24/7. She didn't even give her marriage a chance or seek any kind of therapy. And the worst part is that Dr. Drew announced on his show last night that Kris might been set up to meet Kim on purpose by the producers at E! If that does prove to be true, I will not be watching their channel again. I can't support foolishness and mockery like this.

  16. Amen! How hard is it to stay with someone for just three months?!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Agreed!
There are certain circumstances where you can do everything in your power to hold onto a marriage, but there are thing even God himself tries to tear apart. <--- meaning He has bigger plans for you.

But yes, marriage is not a piece of paper. It's a union. A commitment.

With regards to Kim K... her engagement was 85 days and her marriage was 72... hello!? Something wrong with this picture. lol

    ReplyDelete
  18. This is the reason why we have to start with our children at such a young age. As well as, limit our exposure to such silliness. As much as I like Kim K., I think she is mostly about money and the things you can buy. Once it became clear that her hubby's financial future didn't look promising, she was out of there. So that is what happens when that is what you base your marriage around.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I totally agree. I do watch Kim's show but I feel that you can't just get married because you are so anxious to have a husband because one sis is married and the other has a baby and a partner. When its your time it your time. I too want to be married but I guess Mr. Right has not come around yet. Marriage is serious and shouldn't be handled lightly.

  20. i'm actually just so sad for kim k. i really wanted this one to work out for her!!

  21. I don't understand how a marriage can break up that fast...for better or for worse needs more than 72 days. It seems like she didn't plan to be married. All she planned was the wedding and the party afterward. How sad.

  22. You forgot to list Will Smith and Jada! They have been married for over 10 years I believe.

They made almost 20 million from the publicity stunt. I believe they all knew what was going on from day 1. I'm surprised Vera Wang didn't put something in their contract to say she has to stay married until her replica line goes out.

Anyway, I blame her fans. I'm sorry to say, but the people who keep buying her stuff, watching her show, looking up to her, etc. are just at fault. E wouldn't have ran a 4 hour wedding special unless they knew people would tune in. If we started to raise our standards in the entertainment world, people who release a sex tape wouldn't get famous.

  23. I never got all riled up about kim kardashians wedding. they got paid/made 18 million to get married so I feel like that is the reason they did it...... LAME!

marriage is much more sacred than that but I fear that celebs are making it less and less like that everyday! boo!

    ReplyDelete
  24. ha! you changed the comment thing :)
So, i dont get it. I mean didnt they even know each other before they got marrried??

    ReplyDelete
  25. i am soo glad to see you post about this mrs pancakes!! i am so tired of marriage being mocked too by the media. first of all i want to say to the media pull out the huge stick in your own eye befor looking at the splinters of others. you are exactly right don't get in the game if you don't wanna make the time, hard work and commitment it takes just dont!! thank you for expressing my frustrations here today i couldn't have said it better myself

    ReplyDelete
  26. Girl I just wrote about this..marriage is sacred and is hard.. people have to be willing to work on it..

    ReplyDelete
  27. Girrrrl I could not agree with you more! I think we are all in shock of the amount of money earned for something so sacrid!
    Blasphemy!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Excellent post! I can't even believe the way some celebs make a mockery of marriage! It's crazy!
    Go Oprah and Stedman!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sadly the commitment of marriage holds little to no value to most people; hence the divorce rate. Unfortunately those type of marriages that are displayed in the media helps discourage others from believing in the commitment of marriage.

  30. excellent post.

many people mock the sanctity of marriage. many choose to remain married yet not honour their vows. some assume that flings (albeit sexless) is not betraying the marriage.

then we have the bunch who marry at the spur of the moment and for come...publicity.

    what has become of marriage?

    ReplyDelete
  31. What makes me mad is that gay marriage isn't legal in so many states because it supposedly would "ruin the sanctity of marriage." Um... WTF do celeb marriages do!!?

    ReplyDelete
  32. great post girl. so well said. marriage is just such a great commitment. i know some people say you need to go with your heart, but i think by doing that you also really have to make sure that you know the person inside and out. i've been best friends with mr. taylor for 7 years before we got married. people really need to be smart about this.
and as for oprah...OBSESSED! i just consider her married because she might as well be! adore her in every way!
    xo TJ

  33. I was really disgusted when I heard these two were done after 72 days. Granted I didn't think they'd last beyond 2 years but a little over 2 months it is insane? I don't know if I'll ever get married but I'd rather be alone than be in a miserable marriage. I would also prefer not to get married just to get married.

    ReplyDelete
  34. i am so disappointed in Kim! i thought she would do better than that. thought she would make everyone see that they were wrong .. but no, she proved everyone right. can't believe that! it is horrible that people can make such a big joke about marriage.

    ReplyDelete
  35. It is so crazy! I just don't understand why people treat marriage like a game. Seriously, why bother? You gotta work at marriage it isn't always gonna be roses, but at least put the time and effort in.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Agreed! I read an interesting article yesterday that said narcissists want a wedding NOT marriage. And people think I'm crazy for just wanting to go to the court house. I want to be married, I don't need a big wedding.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I know I'm not married, but ditto and DITTO!!!! It's truly a shame and it's not even funny. At all. It's kinda pathetic, actually. This most recent one? 72 days. Really? REALLY?!

    I can't!

  38. What does Ophrah has a boyfriend?

I know the media promote so many bad things and now marriage as a joke.
