Today is World AIDS Day...
i had no idea until i was driving home.
AIDS impacts so many people in this world and
i thought i would bring awareness on this here little blog and my readers.
I took all of the information from here....Avert.org (AVERTing HIV& AIDS)..
Started on 1st December 1988, World AIDS Day is about:
raising money, increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education.
World AIDS Day is important for reminding people that HIV has not gone away,
and that there are many things still to be done.
According to UNAIDS estimates, there are now 34 million people living with HIV.
During 2010 some 2.7 million people became newly infected with the virus,
including an estimated 390,000 children.
Despite a significant decline in the estimated number of AIDS-related deaths over the last five years,
there were still an estimated 1.8 million AIDS-related deaths in 2010.1
But HIV today is a threat to men, women and children on all continents around the world.
There continues to be a lack of education out there on HIV and AIDS
however in order to become educated..you have to seek it out.
And i am glad i came across Avert.org.
True Story:
When Magic Johnson (i was a basketball feign when i was younger)
came out and reported he had HIV...
i became a hypochondriac until i did more research
and became educated on how it all works.
Moral of Story:
children need to know about the ins and outs of everything in our world age appropriate of course...including World AIDS Day!!
Awareness and education is important and i hope you pass on the website and info!
Have an awesome December 1 evening!!

This is such a horrible disease and an important cause. Thanks for helping raise awareness!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this! While there is so much information out there about this disease, there are so many people who are still unaware about prevention. I learned about HIV/AIDS in my elementary school health class. That was over 15 years ago, and I wonder if the schools are teaching children and teenagers about it. To make a long comment short, awareness is a great form of prevention, and we all need to be more aware! Great post!
ReplyDeleteThanks for spreading the word! Unfortunately it's become a disease that many forget about.
ReplyDeleteI think this is such an important message to spread. Thanks for sharing Mrs Pancakes.
