I didn't know this month was Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)
unless i was made aware by Elizabeth of Love is the Adventure.
Sexual assault is a concern which definitely impacts
many women and men, children and teens all around us.
Of course most of the time, many victims suffer in silence.
Thank goodness there is a month which we can give a voice
to an issue that is definitely a concern in our Society.
The goal of SAAM is to raise awareness about sexual violence
and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence.

ReplyDeleteI wasn't aware of this either...so important thanks for sharing. I've always wanted to take a self defense class. Have you taken one?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this! I also wasn't aware and am going to read up on the campaign.
ReplyDeleteI was aware of this, and thank you for bringing awareness to more people! I work closely with the local Domestic Violence shelter, and it's amazing how many people do suffer.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, April is also National Child Abuse Prevention month. Part of my job is to bring awareness to this, so here is a statistic for you-75% of child abuse happens to children under the age of 4. Why? Because these are the children who have no voice, that cannot stand up for themselves against their abusers. It is so sad :(
