Starting a new job is always nerve racking
but when you are not a morning person and your job demands you to be a morning person...
there's bound to be terrible outcomes all around...
At least I am hoping the outcomes are NOT as terrible.
My new job means I have to get up early and be at work early.
If I had to confess, I haven't really ever had a job
(aside from motherhood) where I had to be up early...at the crack of dawn early.
At least it wasn't mandatory...
Now working in a school setting...it's a MUST to be at work bright and early.
Since having Baby Pancakes...early mornings are definitely part of my norm.
But I have been fortunate because even after a 3AM or 4AM or 5AM feeding....
we are able to go back to sleep until 7 or 8:30AM.
But now I have to be at work no later than 7:30AM.
I mean...really???
But Yes that will be my new normal in less than five day.
Why a Non-morning person will take an early morning job is a question for the ages...
But the perk of going to work early is getting off earlier...at least I keep reminding myself.
The good news is that Baby Pancakes is still be at home with his father
so I don't have to get him out of the house that early.
Kudos to all of you mothers that have to get yourself and your baby ready in the early mornings...
You are all SUPERSTARS in my book!!!
So my question is for the morning people out there....How Do you Do It?
Even if you are NOT a morning person and have been doing this, How Do you Do It?
Any tips, ideas, suggestions to make my early morning run smoothly?

That is exciting that you will start a new job! Early mornings are hard though! My only recommendation is go to sleep earlier. That is what I have to do. =)
ReplyDeleteHappy first day of a new job! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteYes, Im on that laid back schedule now...but if I have to start back working Im going to have to prep myself when I start applying!!! LOL!
I am also not a morning person but I do have to be at work by 7am in the mornings. The perk is indeed getting to leave at 3:30pm and being at home in time to spend some QT with my little girl.
ReplyDeleteI set up everything I need for the day the night before. That way, when I wake up, all I do is pump, pack my food and then shower, nurse baby and head out the door. It sounds like a lot but it really isn't because everything is prepped the night before.
Goodluck and congrats on the new job!
I used to consider myself an afternoon/night person, but since taking a job a few years ago that I had to be up early, I think I've been converted. I like having more time in the evening with my hubby. Heres hoping that once you get used to the new routine you will like it too :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm NOT a morning person but I've never had a job since college that didn't require me to be at work after 7 or 8 because I also don't like to spend my whole day at work. It's just the trade off and you get used to it after a while. I have no idea how it would be with a baby in the mix. Some mornings are rough but you just get up and power through it. The best thing you can do is try to get the amount of sleep you need. Hard with a baby but that would be the goal.
ReplyDeleteI hate waking up in the morning, but for me the hardest part is getting out of bed, especially in winter :(. So it like a rip-the-bandaid type situation every morning, coz once I've had a shower...all is good with the world. You will probably get into the swing of it eventually tho. Yey for new jobs :)
ReplyDeleteGetting as much as you can prepared the night before is CRUCIAL.. I used to get a baby and a toddler ready and have to be at work at 6:30AM! This was years ago when I worked outside outside the home.. It was brutal but that day before prep was a lifesaver.. I am NOT a morning person AT..ALL.. I am a total night owl.. But I can function on little sleep too, if you can't get to bed as early as you can, that will help too! Good luck and congrats on the new job!
ReplyDeleteGet everything do e the night before!!!! That is the KEY. Plus, I still get up an hour before I have to leave the house to give myself time to get everything together.
ReplyDeleteI am so not a morning person...I admire you for stepping up to this challenge!
ReplyDeleteWow, 7:30 a.m. is early! I am not a morning person in any way, and that's part of the reason I'm trying to see if I can bring in enough income working from home and setting my own hours. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Best wishes in your new job! I know you will do great! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you will enjoy this new endeavor. I am a morning person and it comes natural to me bc I don't need a lot of sleep. i guess you could call me a sleepless person bc I keep late hours as well. I usually set 2 alarms & drink some caffeine if I need a boost.
