Glasses USA

You know how you attend your annual physical and the nurse makes you stand a feet away and cover one eye to read this:

Yes the dreaded vision test!
I swear i can NEVER read the letters and always mixing them up.
I really believe i need some eyeglasses.
Have you noticed the doctor never recommends you for an optometrist to get your eyes fully checked.
I really do believe i can find some awesome online eyeglasses.
But oh the dreaded eyeglasses...i have only worn glasses for fun when i was in high school and wanted to look cool.  I have always liked glasses frames that are fashionable.  I recently saw a kid wearing glasses wtihout frames really?!! That's fashionable he said.
I went on GlassesUSA.com, have you heard of them?
They have high quality frames and lenses, we offer a 110% lowest price guarantee
and a 100% satisfaction guarantee along with a generous refer-a-friend program.
They have this pretty awesome feature which allows you to try on the glasses prior to purchase.
They have a plethora of options available on their website.
And right now they have specials available.
Great gift for mother's day if you ask me!!!

Take 15% off + get free shipping on your entire order (orders over $50). Code: FS15
Take 10% off any order of prescription glasses. Code: Blog10
Right after the optometrist office i am definitely going to GlassesUSA
for my first prescriptive glasses purchase.
Have you heard of GlassesUSA?
Wouldn't they be an awesome idea for Mother's Day??

Fashion & Food??

Good Tuesday Friends...whenever i find something funny or just plain weird...I usually leave it for Friday Funnies but I couldn't help myself today....i had to share it with you guys this rainy Tuesday.  Maybe i am also wishing it was Friday...

Anyway here goes....

Polish design company Mr.GUGU & Miss Go have added a tasty selection of food-inspired clothing to their funky line.  The brand, which says it creates clothes that encourage people to look "fresh, brave, original and self confident," is out with bold pieces printed with realistic pictures of mouth-watering food.

So here goes...feast your eyes:

I don't know about wearing my food...i prefer to eat it.

Question of the Day:
What about you....does food and fashion go from mouth to on your body?

Reason #1037 Why POTUS is Cool...

I am not sure what the White House Correspondents' Dinner is all about but they seem to have it every year it seems.  I don't usually pay attention but this weekend's dinner reminded me of why President Barack Obama is too cool....

He is a man, regardless of how powerful or well known he is in the world, knows how to make fun of himself.  And there is nothing more attractive and cool than a man who knows how to make fun of himself.
Through his words:

"These days, I look in the mirror and I have to admit," Obama said. "I'm not the strapping young Muslim socialist I used to be."

 And then pictures...

Have an awesome Monday!!!1

ProjectMilf: Week 12

Good Morning Ladies!!!
Week 12 of #ProjectMilf is all about
embracing and meditating on some powerful words
from the ever powerful and ever present Oprah Winfrey.
Recently I had an epiphany in my bathroom as i was starring at Oprah's picture
and she looked so serene and it hit me....this is why people love and adore her...
because she is present every single time which makes her approachable and real...
she is herself inside and out.
And i wish for all of us to be like that in our lives.
She is definitely a Motivating Inspiring Leading Female
who we can all learn from.

In honor of being present in our lives...
Week 12 is all about embracing one of these quotes and meditating on
how it makes you feel and how it can help you in week 12.

The Quotes:
  1. “Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure."
  2. “So go ahead. Fall down. The world looks different from the ground.”
  3. “Where there is no struggle, there is no strength.”
  4. “The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.”
  5. “Devote today to something so daring even you can’t believe you’re doing it.”

I am choosing #3 Where there is no struggle, there is no strength because i think sometimes i take it for granted that not everything is going to come easy and that a little or a lot of struggle is definitely what makes me stronger and gives me strength for the next challenge.
I will be using this to meditate on this week.

My Weekly Update:
1) Healthy Lifestyle Change
It was my anniversary so i indulged.  We went to a baseball game and enjoyed chicken fingers and fries and funnel cake...my favorite...it was the best.  The game was good.  But the company was greater.

2) Emotional Wellness
It was my anniversary and so Mr. Pancakes were very present this week with one another.  I made him the cutest book entitled "The Story of Us...thus far" with pictures, quotes and our love story....it's really cute.  I will share it on the blog one day.

This is the reason you could be stressed....

...At least according to the new Gallup-Healthway report.
They interviewed 350,000 people throughout 2012 and they found that
if you are stressed out, it could be because of the state in which you live in.
Researchers also analyzed the link between feelings of stress and feelings of enjoyment
and found strong correlations.

Here are five most stressed out states:
1. West Virginia
2. Rhode Island
3. Kentucky
4. Utah
5. Massachusetts
The most-stressed states reported the lowest levels of enjoyment "yesterday."

Here are the five least stressed out states from 5-1:
5. Wyoming
4. Iowa
3. Mississippi
2. Louisinia
1. Hawaii
The least-stressed states also were the states reporting highest levels of enjoyment "yesterday,"

Which leaves me to think we need to make our
"today's" more enjoyable so our "yesterdays" can be awesome!!

This was the picture attached to Hawaii...the least stressed out state.
Looking at this gorgeous view every day...i would be less stressed too!
Be kind to someone today so that tomorrow will be great for them!

If you can't move to Hawaii, at least enjoy the view!!!!

Celebrating Love: 24 Months

I cannot believe I have been married to the love of my life for 24 months.
Time really flies when you are having fun with your best friend....
There is nothing better.

Dear Mr. Pancakes,

Everyday you help me to become a better version of myself...
As a woman, as a wife and as a mom!

I am blessed beyond measure.
It's cliche but i feel like the
luckiest woman every. single. waking. moment.
And the fact that i get to spend those
waking moments with you are the
best experiences of my life.
I once heard that life is
a series of great moments and i think they are so true.

These 24 months have been nothing but
a wonderful series of moments:
Including holding hands at the altar,
saying those two magical words "i do."
Spending a blissful week in Barbados.
Finding out we were expecting.
Traveling to Tennessee our future home.
Celebrating your 30th in Toronto.
Meeting the love of our lives Baby Pancakes...
the best cutest smartest little boy in the world.
You becoming a dad.
I becoming a mom.
Us becoming parents.
Spending our first Christmas, New Year's Eve,
 Valentine's Day & Easter and
Enjoying our longlazysundays as a family of three!

And i look forward to many many many more series of moments.
I love you to the moon and back....again and again!!!

Love, Mrs. Pancakes!!!

Hello Friends!!!
I have no idea what to get Mr. Pancakes for our 2nd year anniversary.
And it's tomorrow...shame on me.

Zero. Zip. Nada. Nothing.

And so i am turning my blog over to my bloggy friends for some ideas.

Here are some things to know about my husband....

A simple man.
He likes sports (football).
He likes music.
He loves me.
He loves his baby boy.
He loves his car.
He likes to work out.
He likes watching anything related to the stock market.
He likes to read.

Any ideas after getting to know him a little bit more?

Longlazysunday: Week 24

This has been one of those weekends I could use a re-do because I feel like it's ending too quickly. I need one more day before I have to go back to work. I feel like we didn't do much but do a lot of running around. I can't wait when Baby Pancakes is old enough that weekends are all about doing activities with him! Nowadays I just drag him along to all the errands I have to run. Today was spent doing laundry and getting the house clean...sometimes I feel like we are a family of 10 instead of 3. Anyway I'm trying to make the most of this longlazysunday even though it's anything but lazy! Favorite moment of today was picking up some fresh fruits from our local market...I'm currently obsessed with avocados...yummy!!! Hope your Sunday is long and lazy!!

#ProjectMilf 2013: Week 11

Good Morning Friends!!!
We are are Week 11 and moving along with our goal.
One of the things this project is reminding me of is the importance
of carving out time to take care of ourselves.
It's difficult sometimes because life can get in the way
but it's a must because we are worth it.
Cliche but it's true!!!

If you follow Toi at MsBabyPlan...
then you know she has been serving up some delicious smoothies the last several weeks.
And in honor of that we thought Week 11 of #ProjectMilf would be all about sharing HEALTHY SMOOTHIE/DRINK
a smoothie or drink that makes you feel like you are on a holiday,
therefore it just relaxes you or is so yummy but healthy and doesn't fall into unhealthy snacks.
It will also be fun to see what we all come up with so we can all try the different smoothies and drinks.

Grab a button and share away ladies...make it a smoothie one!

My Healthy Drink:
I am currently obsessed with Bolthouse Farms Smoothies.
I know i should be making my own but i haven't gotten to that point yet.
So whenever I want a good healthy smoothie...i go to Bolthouse.
They have different flavors and all of them are delicious.
My favorite ones are Amazing Mango and Strawberry Bananas.
I even tried the Green Goodness....and it was delicious.
I would highly recommend them!
They can be found at Target for a great deal.

My Weekly Update:
1) Healthy Lifestyle Change
Awesome...i have been working out more than usual but i am most proud of my eating.  Who would have thought that sauteed spinach and chicken/tilapia would be so awesome.  Thanks hubby for cooking up a storm.

2) Emotional Wellness
I am excited for our 2nd year anniversary in 5 days....i have no idea what we are going to do.  I really want to go on a trip but i am not sure that's going to happen because of school.  But i need for us to do something still.  Maybe this weekend we will decide!!

3) Spiritual Fortitude
I am still praying every day, listening to gospel music in the morning.

Now it's your turn...link up with your posts, grab the button and share:
your Motivating & Inspiring Leading Female Idols
and your weekly updates on your Milf goals!!

Prayers for Boston

If you have ever participated in a race, you know the atmosphere is
filled with smiles and laughter throughout the crowd.
Although you are about to embark on one of the most excruciating moments in your life....
you are also about to do something that is beyond this world.
You can only know that feeling of sheer exhaustion and happiness that occurs during and after a race.
So to have what happened at the Boston Marathon happen is just so tragic and despicable.
That someone would think of taking away a moment in someone's life
that they have worked so hard for is just unheard of.
One of my friends put it perfectly that some human beings are "savages"!
There is no other word to describe this nonsensical behavior in such a public way.

My heart and prayers go out to the three individuals that died,
all those that were injured, the thousands that are emotionally
scarred and the rest of America that has to be privy to the images and sights and sounds.
One radio announcer asked an individual in the area
during an interview to describe what they heard during the incident?
And another incident on twitter indicated that a child running on
behalf of Sandy Hook Elementary was one of the people presumed dead...
i hope that was not some cruel joke.
I would be peeved if people were sensationalizing the incident....
sometimes the Media and people do that with such tragic events.
And that bothers me.
But we do live in a sensationalized world unfortunately.

I don't even know how i would explain such
senseless tragedy to my son when he is old enough to ask questions.
And unfortunately there are too many of these events happening in our corner of the world.

The only thing i could say to him is:
"Let us pray son for the victims and those impacted by the tragedy.
Let us pray for a world where peace can exist.
Where people do not have to harm others with guns, bombs,
words and or any kind of weapon.
Let us pray for God's protection over this nation.
Let us pray for kindness and happiness in everyone's hearts.
Let us pray because sometimes that's all we can do."

Question of the Day:
What are you telling yourself this morning to find some comfort?

Mommylogues: Dance Party with My Son

Good Monday Morning Friends...
On Saturday...my son and I had a dance party.
This reminded me of a post i wrote when Baby Pancakes
was still in my belly about him having a dance party.

April 27, 2012
It must be a Friday night dance party
because you are dancing up a storm Baby Pancakes!
Just twisting and chivying away...
you are too cute sometimes how you interact
and i so think you are going to be a night baby.
Daddy and i hope you will enjoy sleeping as much as we do
BUT when you are having dance parties..i am left to wonder!
You are too adorable in all your cuteness...
i LOVE feeling you move and now when you
move i can actually see the movements and it the most amazing feeling.
I want you to continue to move and move and twist
and turn and chive and do all the things you need to do!!!
LOVE always and forever!!

This time around, our Play List included these songs:
1. Three Little Birds (thanks Rolex for the reminder...i love this song)
2. No Woman, No Cry
3. Could This Be Love
4.  Move Like Jagger
5. Soul Sister
6. Home
7. Buffalo Soldier

And some others I can't remember but it was a jumping playlist.

Watching and listening to my son laugh and smile filled my heart with such joy.
I was reminded how beautiful and fun motherhood truly is.
And while we were dancing....we were making memories that will last a lifetime!

Question of the Day:
What did you do this weekend?
Any dance parties?

Friday Funnies: Phone Etiquette

Good Friday Friends...
It's raining on this end and all i wanted to
do this morning was stay cuddled up in bad but work is upon me.
But at least it's Friday...hope you are enjoying yours so far.

Here is a little something funny for your Friday.
We are all guilty of this so someone thought
it would be fun to remind us of phone etiquette 101.
Enjoy your Weekend!!!

Team Pancakes is sending out prayers to the citizens of
Mississippi, Alabama and TN who were all impacted by the terrible storms.
Stay Encouraged!!!

#ProjectMilf: Week 10

#ProjectMilf is moving along nicely and I think we are all hitting our strides.
We would like to all congratulate Brandi and her husband
for making their dreams come true by moving to Italy....
we are so glad she has decided to share her journey with all of us.
We are all living vicariously through her at this point.

Week 10 is all about what music we listen to for relaxation
and or to motivate us to work out.
You know music can do different things for us....
so in order to add to our and your play list...
we are all going to share our top three songs.
Take it away ladies!!

My Play List:
Here are my top three for motivating me to work out:
1. Head Sprung by LLCoolJ....i can be bone tired and as soon as it starts...i can run another mile.
2. Right Round by FloRida...i love Hangover and that song is another great one too
3. Home by Phillips Phillips....there is something about this beat that gets me every single time.
4. Stars by Amanda Brown from the Voice....
i know that's four but this is currently one of my relaxing songs.

My Weekly Update:
1) Healthy Lifestyle Change
I have been using jump rope and weights to push myself this week. And i am tired but i feel wonderful. The last couple of weeks, I have been a complainer but thank you all for your motivating words...i feel encouraged each week.

2) Emotional Wellness
I am excited for our 2nd year anniversary in 12 days....WOW!!! I can't believe it but it's true i will be a married woman for 2 years.  I probably need to go and get my rings re-sized..yes my fingers have become a little bigger too since the baby.  But it's all good!!

3) Spiritual Fortitude
I am still praying every day, listening to gospel music in the morning. But i am still not doing well with the bible reading but this is work in progress so i know i will progress!!!

Now it's your turn...link up with your posts, grab the button and share:
your Motivating & Inspiring Leading Female Idols

Embarrassing Pictures of Your Baby Should Not be online!!!!!

Good Morning Friends...

I am all for people posting pictures of their babies online....
Especially cute cuddly pictures of their babies...
because these babies will grow up someday and want to see the adorable pictures....
And online has become a way to document family pictures...
Kudos to those who share these precious moments
but i don't think embarrassing pictures of your baby should be online?

I worry about others that put embarrassing
pictures and videos of their children online.
Youtube has become the dumping ground for such videos
and personally I am alarmed at parents that do this...
One video of your kid crying or having a temper tantrum may possibly be acceptable
but to post continuous pictures/videos of
your child crying with snot on their faces is just plain disgusting.

And this father should be ashamed of herself.
Embarrassing his baby in this manner.
And in my opinion his inability to have some boundaries for his child...
children cry but they don't have to cry over every little thing.

And the fact that the media including Huffington Post
thinks this father has turned his child's crying moments/tantrums into comedic gold
 should be ashamed of themselves.
I debated whether to put the pictures on my blog but i had to prove my point...
Sorry little unsuspecting cute baby that your dad is doing this to you....

Now of course this father has the right to do what he wants with his baby...
but i have a right to my opinions too especially since
anything online is up for public consumption and debate.
If i could ask this father one question, it would be this:
Would you post embarrassing pictures of yourself online?

Question of the Day:
Am i being totally unfair to this dad?
Or is he just having some fun?

When Is It Too Late?

I was reading an article and this was the first few sentences:
Having diabetes and being an older mother pose
multiple health risks for both Halle Berry and her unborn child,
but the latest advances in testing and medical care will
go a long way to guard against problems, experts say.

Which got me thinking: When it is too late to carry a baby?

For some background...Halle is 46 and probably in awesome physical shape.
She had her first child when she was 41.

Clearly our bodies can do anything but is there ever a time when it should be too late?
Especially when there are potential risks to the mother and baby?

Should age even be considered when you are trying to get pregnant?
And is she giving false hope to many older women who want to become mothers?
And what about when the babies grow up and mom is much older?
Or should any of this even matter when we are considering motherhood?

I am the product of a much older parent and i think there
are a few things i might have missed out because of this.

Many questions I know but I have been thinking about all these questions
and thought it would make for a fun discussion....so please join in....

Monday Spring Fashion Show

Good Monday Morning Friends. I am pretty excited about some of my new spring fashion pieces. I love all the coral and bright colors that Spring allows us to wear. Additionally, I have come to conclusion with my new body and understand I need to dress it appropriately. Plus it's okay to admit that my body has changed! And I got my feet some new shoes. My feet has not returned to its adorable size and now I am a size 8...I still have hope so I am not getting raid of all my cute shoes...just yet!!! Anyway what pieces have you purchased recently that you are in love with?

Longlazysunday: Week 22

It's first Sunday and we didn't make it to church because little man decided to fall asleep just as we were about to get ready and it just didn't make sense to wake him up...it's too much of an effort for him to sleep. I'm a little sad that my spring break is done and I feel like I didn't really relax the way I needed too! Next time I have plenty of time from work, I need to travel somewhere and actually take a vacation...staying home is clearly not relaxing because I'm always running around. Anyway one of the good things I managed to do is have some quality time with Baby Pancakes and Mr. Pancakes. And i did some retail therapy including new shoes and a few pieces!! Today I ended off my week by enjoying the afternoon with the family doing some last minute things around time. Baby Pancakes got some new cloth diapers and some snacks "mum mums"--his god brother used to eat them. Anyway Baby Pancakes is tuckered out and I am about to enjoy my Panera lunch...woohoo...it's going to be an awesome longlazysunday!! What are you up to this longlazysunday??

#ProjectMilf: Week 9 Wildcard

#PojectMilf
It was fun last week to review and keep ourselves and each other accountable...
but now are back to the grind.
And Week 9 is all about the WildCard...
this is an opportunity to challenge ourselves with
whatever we want to try and achieve this week towards our main goals.
I love the idea of asking ourselves: What Would you do if you weren't afraid?
Be adventurous in Week 9....what's on your wildcard?

Weekly Update:
Every week is something else...
and i don't really want my #ProjectMilf journey to be one big
complain fest but these feelings I am having are all part of the journey
so i need to share and be true to the process.
Because it's not just about having a nice body but in the end...
I really want to be and live my life as a Motivating & Inspiring Leading Female!!
Confession Time:
insanity is really doing something over and over again and expecting different results
...i may be insane or i may have no will power but whatever it is that i am going through....
at some point...i need to do something different...make different changes...
what would happen if i was consistent with my
workouts, eating, writing in my journal and reading my bible?
I would actually feel much better about myself and continue to do more.
Because my fellow Milfs are doing it every week.
Sometimes i think i need therapy just to figure out why i do what i do but then I realize...
first i am a tad bit dramatic, and second
i just need to make better choices every single
second, minute, hour, day, months, year and so on and so forth.
And the quote rings true again: I am the master of my fate, the captain of my soul!
My Wildcard Goal this week: To add jump rope and boxing into my workouts.

1) Healthy Lifestyle Change
I am on Spring Break this week so i didn't do much but Baby Pancakes and I have been around and about so I've been getting my workouts in that way.  Last night we came home and I was tired...I needed a nap.

2) Emotional Wellness
We are finally doing our taxes...oh Mr. Pancakes...how I love thee!  I know we are cutting it close but sometimes that's how Team Pancakes roll...terrible I know...we will do better next time.  Monday was an awesome day for Team Pancakes...we had a family day which was really nice...just spending time with my boys is a nice and wonderful feeling.

3) Spiritual Fortitude
Fail...fail...fail but I do pray everyday.  But i feel like a hypocrite every Sunday when our Pastor says "study to show thyself approved, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."  I need to get to learning The Word!!

Now it's your turn...link up with your posts, grab the button and share:
your Motivating & Inspiring Leading Female Idols
and your weekly updates on your Milf goals!!

And Don't forget...it's never too late to join #ProjectMilf....
we would love more accountability partners!!!
