Here we are in Day 2 of Getting to Know Mom Series and i thought for some of the days,
i am going to add a lesson that I want my son to learn...after all in him getting to know me, I want him to learn something about me and how he can navigate some of life's challenges.
Day 2 is all about describing 3 legitimate fears you have and explain how they became fears.
I don't know if i have any legitimate fears but there are definitely things that freak me out just a bit.
1. Cats....when i was younger i saw a cat holding it's baby in it's mouth in the rain and ever since I've just never liked them. I will not sleep in someone's house who has a cat. I will walk away if i see a cat. I don't like seeing cats on commercials, magazines...they just scare me.
2. Failure...i think everyone fears failure but growing up, it was always an expectation that I had to succeed at whatever i did. Even now although I have failed at different things, it's never a good feeling. The fear of failure is strong always but I know if i give it my all...i will succeed at all i try and do!
3. Something happening to you....and this is a legitimate fear because sometimes i can be a worse case scenario mom/woman and I am working on this. When I was pregnant with you, I prayed every single day for your health and safety. And then when you were born, i prayed for your strength and now as you are growing up, i continue to pray for your health, strength, happiness every single day.
There you have it...my 3 legitimate fears.....
and the lesson from Day 2 son is fear is not a productive emotion
and it's always better to not have it in your life.
I don't like cats either. While I'm not afraid of them I just don't like them, LOL!!! You're right, fear isn't a productive emotion. That's a great reminder for adults too!
ReplyDeleteAww, I'm sorry you're afraid of cats. I have a cat and dog. Hopefully when you visit my blog the pictures won't make you nervous. He's an old cat, very mellow and he loves people :)
ReplyDeleteFailure... even when I was a little girl, if I didn't think I could do something, I wouldn't even try it. I'm still kinda like that, but not as bad. Lol
Becoming a mom heightened a lot of my fears b/c I now had someone else that I loved and cared about more than Myself and the thought of anything happening to my babies is just incomprehensible. My biggest fear is not being around to raise my children. I don't want them to be raised by family members or a wicked step-mom! I've shared this fear with many mommie friends and it seems we're all on the same page. God please let us raise OUR kids. Amen! ;) Great post!

ReplyDeleteI didn't really care for cats until I met my husband because he had one. But failure is a BIG one for me too.
