Since this is Mother's Day Week most of my posts will be
about mothers and motherhood to some degree.
I got this idea from Jennifer of BabyMakingMachine
about mothers and motherhood to some degree.
I got this idea from Jennifer of BabyMakingMachine
about writing a letter to your pre-mother self.
What a great and thoughtful idea right...so here goes.
*********************************************
Dear My Future Self As Mom,
I thought it would be fun to write this letter to you since you are currently with child.
Plus, it will be nice to read this when the little one is finally here and things get hectic.
It will be important to remind yourself of a few things about being a mom,
motherhood and the beautiful decision that you and Mr. Pancakes have made.
Know that your body has changed and will continue to change.
When your body changes, remember that's part of the process of motherhood.
Embrace it and work to strengthen it at the gym and with what you eat.
Don't beat up yourself because your body changed!
Know that your body has changed and will continue to change.
When your body changes, remember that's part of the process of motherhood.
Embrace it and work to strengthen it at the gym and with what you eat.
Don't beat up yourself because your body changed!
Remember you are human and you will make mistakes.
You may not know right away what his cries all mean
BUT eventually you will learn and understand them all within two seconds of it starting.
Know that your grandma, mom, sisters and most of the mothers
you know all did it and continue to do it with all the challenges motherhood comes with.
Remember your mom gave birth to you naturally at home.
And to your siblings..she did it five times.
Get strength from that knowledge.
And to your siblings..she did it five times.
Get strength from that knowledge.
Know you will feel overwhemeled with all the responsibilitues of motherhood.
And that you will get weary sometimes because of the pressures of all your roles:
wife, mother, daughter, friend, employee and woman.
wife, mother, daughter, friend, employee and woman.
But you are NEVER alone in these roles because
you have the support of the best partner there ever was.
you have the support of the best partner there ever was.
Mr. Pancakes will be there always...you just have to ask.
And above all, say a prayer always asking God for guidance and direction in all you do.
And while you are praying...you are modeling for
Baby Pancakes the significance of depending on God always.
Baby Pancakes the significance of depending on God always.
Don't get too freaked out if your son decides to
play football and gets tackled or tackles people.
play football and gets tackled or tackles people.
Or at the playground if he climbs high things and jumps off screaming,
remember these are regular everyday boy behaviours...
don't stifle his need or sense for adventure.
remember these are regular everyday boy behaviours...
don't stifle his need or sense for adventure.
Remember not to control the situation when it comes to mothering...
Mr. Pancakes should do some fathering too!
Remember NOT to compare yourself to other mothers
and or your child to someone else's child.
and or your child to someone else's child.
Know that you are your own person and so is Baby Pancakes!
And if you feel like staying home and raising your child (instead of working)
that does not make you weak...it just means you are normal
and want to experience everything firsts with your baby.
that does not make you weak...it just means you are normal
and want to experience everything firsts with your baby.
Know it's alright to want to nurture and nourish your baby....
But it's also important to nurture and nourish yourself.
Remember to savour the beautiful moments of quiet times with your baby.
Hold his little hands, kiss his beautiful cheeks, stare and get lost in his eyes!
Sing him songs and don't be shy of getting silly with him.
Take pictures, lots of lots of pictures and videos
because they grow up so fast!
Tell him you love him everyday...and give long and sweet hugs!
And above all else...
live, love & laugh always
because motherhood only gets better with time!
