Christmas Mood: Let It Snow

33 Go Team Pancakes!
Happy Monday Friends!
Hope all your gifts are purchased, wrapped and under a Christmas tree ready to be opened!
And if not...no worries...you still have 6 more days 'til Christmas!
This morning i am feeling a little nostalgic.

I am originally from Canada so i am used to snow sometime
during the first or second week of November
and definitely some kind of snow fall the day of Christ's birthday.
So i am a little underwhelmed there is still NO hint of snow in my section of the country.

There is nothing cozier than waking up on Christmas day morning to find snow falling outside.
The light flickering from the fireplace.
The smell of breakfast cooking in the house.
And the warm smiles and hugs from family and friends.
The telephone calls from families far away calling with Merry Christmas and Happy New Year wishes.
And of course the snow fall continues throughout the day.
Snow accumulation is always the best because you know the rest of the day
will be spent inside, warm and cozy with family and friends.

This is what i am used to, Christmas Day with Snow.
And since i don't think there will be snow this year...
i thought i would bring some snow to my blog (and my life)
this Monday morning to put me in the mood of Christmas.

Question of the Day
What puts you in the Christmas mood?

LonglazySunday: Domestic Goddess

28 Go Team Pancakes!

Sometimes a wife has to be domestic.
And that's exactly what i did on Saturday

(hence why i deserve a longlazysunday).

Well i didn't look exactly like her while being domestic..
BUT i did wash dishes, cook, vacuum, laundry and clean the bathroom.

Oh and this occurred after i ran 7miles...who is the domestic goddess now?!

No but seriously, do you ever feel like you deserve the domestic goddess award?!

Happy Longlazysunday Friends!

Question to the Universe: Christmas Gifts?

33 Go Team Pancakes!
Hello Friends...
It's FRIDAY!
It's Pay Day so it's an extra fantastic
BUT there are 9 days until Christmas...
Do not press the panic button because everything will turn out find 9 mornings from now.
It will still be Jesus' birthday (Christmas) if the kiddies, hubbies, mamas, daddies,
aunties, uncles and secret santas get their gifts or not!

Source

Speaking of giving gifts in 9 days...
ever wonder where the idea for Christmas gift giving originated from?
Well according to the Nativity Story, the wise men brought three gifts to honor Jesus,
which had prophetic meaning:

1. Gold--a gift for a king
2. Incense--a gift for a priest
3. Myrrh--a burial onintment for one who would die

Christmas gifts were meant to remind people of the offerings to Jesus
and God's gift of Christ to the world.

According to some research, in the 4th century, St. Nicholas, a bishop,
had a repuation for his generosity and kindness, especially toward children.
St. Nicholas has evolved into the magical Santa Claus today!

It's been so fun researching all these traditions.
Go here for more history on Christmas gift giving including why we hand stockings by the fire place.
I am hopeful that most or all of what i read is true!

But now onto my Question to the Universe:

1. What time is it where you are?
2. Are you finished your Christmas shopping?
3. What's on your Christmas wish list this year?

My Answers:
1. 11:19pm (on 12/14/11--i scheduled this post)
2. No, I still have a few items to buy
3. Gym outfits and new running shoes (geesh when did i become so grown up?!)

Now it's your turn to answer the three questions...Happy Fridays Friends!
