LongLazySunday: For Twilight Fans!

I have an admission to make..i attempted to read the first Twilight book
however it was a total FAIL
The book was very thick and daunting so i never did complete the first one...
although i know it's easy reading.
Also i never understood the lure of vampires, humans and wolves falling in love.

I tried watching the movie too...and that was also a total FAIL.
Mr. Pancakes and i took his niece to the second movie..
before i saw the first one and it was an alright movie.
I then watched the first movie when i came home...wasn't blown away:-(
I don't know if i will ever read the books and or go to the theaters to watch the third installment.
BUT maybe i have to read the book to fully appreciate the love that exists between Bella and Edward...although i must say i am Team Jacobs just
because the dude that plays his character is like a teenage god!
But i digress...the scenes in the current commercials between Edward and Bella are truly romantic.
Which leads me to my question..Am missing something?

 Should i read the books?
And then have a Twilight marathon?
And what makes the Twilight series such an epic romance anyway?

Hope you enjoyed your Longlazysunday!!!

For some reason - I LOVED the books.
I think once you start reading them you'll get into them!! If you can get past the whole vampire/werewolf/human love business!!
I have watched the first two movies and I wasn't running to the theater to watch the third.
So I guess you can say I loved the books, but the movies left me feeling a bit blah!! lol

Hope you're having a lovely Sunday my friend!

I read the entire series before seeing any of the movies, and I also personally think the books are much better! I would definitely recommend trying to stick through it and try reading the books. I think the reason it's such a great love story is it really speaks to a womans heart. She falls in love with someone who is considered in some ways a bad boy, yet he's old fashioned, fairly conservative, protective guy. Then you have Jacob who also loves the girl, and wants to be her everything!

DEFINITELY Read the books! The books were WAY better than the movies.. I saw the first movie on dvd. My sister watched it and loved it so I sent her my copies of the books. She read up until most of eclipse (loser!LOL!) and we watched Eclipse together in the theatre and both LOVED IT (that's the 3rd installment by the way) The 4th is the one you saw previews for Breaking Dawn Part 1. I will say I liked Breaking Dawn (the book) up until the end and I will leave it at that to not spoil it for you.. The books were amazing.. The movies not so much, which is why I am not running to the theatre to see this newest one.. I might go on my birthday because hubby is off but that's next month and because I have free tickets to any movie so yeah, definitely not rushing.. I do think if you watch the movies first you will like them better, the books ruin the movie for you since they leave staggering amounts of info out for time sake and story cohesion (so they say..)

Lol I understand your questioning this vampire/wolf/human love triangle as well. As soon as we left the theater I headed to Target to get the first book. I'm like determined to make sense of what I saw last night. I felt bad though bc as we watched the movie, most parts that the tweens around me were gasping at made me giggle. Lol ill let you know how the first book goes.

I loved the movie and wanted to get more from it so I read the books. I couldn't put them down from the moment I opened the first page. The reason I felt in love with the whole series was because of how it takes you back to teenage love. If you take away all the vampire, wolves things it is just another teenage love story!

There is a line which goes like this 'this is how the lamb fell in love with the lion' just pure romanticism. I am so happy my daughter came into the world on the Breaking Dawn premier :)

Never read them, but I saw the first movie and was less than impressed.

I had a friend who had brought all four books to Russia with her and she loaned them to me I read them all back to back and loved them. I have only seen the two movies and was not impressed with either one.

You know, I'm a pretty big fan of the books...though they are a little on the silly side at times. I guess I just appreciated the throwback to Victorian novels that are all about longing and unfulfilled desire and forbidden love. Pretty romantic stuff. They're very adolescent and they made me a little nostalgic for that time of my life.

Oh love the second picture! The books are amazing, they are well written and there's no denying how good they are. This is coming from someone who is NOT a twilight fan and doesn't think much of the hype and is not much of a fan of vampire stories and all that bullshit. But then again I started reading the books before the whole hype broke out and I was simply mesmerized by the whole story and how it's written. When it comes to the movies, I saw the first and probably the second and didn't think much of it, so I couldn't really bother to watch the rest. Altough I think the cast is pretty good :)

the book was "thick and daunting" hahahaha!!! My thoughts exactly! And I am going to have to come back and read all the answers on this post because I have NEVER once read a Twilight book nor seen the movies. I don't know, vampires and that just don't seem to do it for me! Let me know if you end up reading the books/watching the movies and then tell me if I am missing something :)

hahaha... i enjoyed reading this post. the ...."total fail" cracked me up. :) i am with you though... i couldn't understand all the hype. i failed, too, in an effort to get into the books, and movies also.

hope you have a fantastic wk!

i wasn't into that whole vampire/wolf thing either but when i borrowed the first book on a whim (i was looking for books to read and was the last of my friends to be on this bandwagon) i inhaled it, showed up at my friend's door 4hrs later and wanted to borrow the rest!

the movies however, were a total flop; although eclipse wasn't as bad as the others. i fully expect breaking dawn to be as horrible as the others but i must watch it because i'm hoping that the volturi will kick some serious butt.

and i'm on team jacob; i really don't like edward's character because he's such a p***y! [sorry to the edward lovers :( ]

I haven't gotten into the whole twilight series either, vampires don't do it for me.

I don't get it either and the books are so poorly written but I borrowed them from my friends (out of curiosity!), and it is taking me FOREVER to get through Breaking Dawn (took about a year to read Eclipse) and I am a super fast reader. I can't knock the author's success though!

Oh my goodness! There's a wedding and a baby?! I've obviously been out of the loop, or perhaps never been part of it!

I haven't read any of the books. I read the first page of the first book, before I gave up. It just didn't grab me. I have, however, seen all of the movies. My husband and I went to the 12:30 release of the last movie even though we had work the next day.

We walked out of the first movie after about 30mins because we couldn't get into. Sparkling vampires!?! So we watched it at home on Netflix when it was released on dvd with a bottle of wine and enjoyed it. The second movie is better, the third is the best (in my opinion) and the latest movie was okay. It wasn't as action driven as the third movie, but the wedding scenes were gorgeous!

I never understood the twilight phenomenon. love between the undead and humans creeps me out.

I'm a twihard! The books are for young adults, so you get the whole teenage love butterfly feeling again. That's the draw for me. Plus the soundtracks are kickass!

Well, you know where I stand on this! I love the Twilight saga. I got sucked into the romance and excitement. And I love the movies because I love the books. Sort of a package deal. I'm a hopeless romantic at heart!

I love the books, but don't love the movies so much. I felt weird to be a grown-@ss woman reading a teen romance series about vampires, but they're sooo good!
