Living Our Vows: Latorsha & Hubby

Living Our Vows is definitely celebrating LOVE this month.
If you remember from last week....this month,
we are celebrating couples who have been together 10 years and or more.
Again, i am honored to have these amazing ladies share their stories and experiences with us.
I know i am learning a lot and hopefully you are learning a lot too.
Enjoy the lovely Latorsha as she shares with us how her and the hubby are living their vows!

*****************************************************
I am so flattered that Mrs. Pancakes offered me this great opportunity to be featured in the living our vows series. Before we get started I have to tell you I was concerned at first that I wouldn't live up to post expectations. And then the bulb went off!!
I just gotta be me and tell it like it IS!

Marriage - it's about give and take aka for better or for worse.
Marriage is full of joy and bliss! Kisses and hugs! AND some heartaches and pains.
Let me tell you what you don't want to hear first so I can end on a positive note.
That's how I like to do. For worse I thought having a second adult in the house would be ideal for keeping things neat and tidy. Nope. Two totally different definitions and priorities.
Some days when I see his dirty clothes laying on the floor beside the hamper I wanna take a lighter and burn them into flames. But I don't. Not yet anyway. Telling each other what to do. This can get really touchy.
I mean he ain't my daddy and I ain't his momma. Just because we live together and said “I do” doesn't mean I gotta do what he says do. Hmph! Where's the money honey? I don't know!!
Last time I saw it, it was being sucked from our acct to pay some bank fees or some bills, I mean a latte and a treat. I mean I worked full time for years and supported the marriage. I deserve something! Right?
These are just a few examples of some our for worse moments.
Trust that there are others.
Sometimes I just wanna take a frying pan
make him do things MY WAY!

For better My husband will go out of his way to get me something that I want.
Please note that I said want not need. For example for years I wanted a Coach bag but always felt like I couldn't spend that much on a large bag for myself. So one Christmas he traveled to the Coach outlet and bought me 2 of them! No matter how irritated we get with one another we always admit that we have to work through the problems cause ain't nobody else gonna take us in.
We laugh in adversity.
When our financial situation took a turn deep south,
we found joy in remembering we could survive on cereal, bread, beans, and water.

Okay. I know. The for better moments sound kind of cheesy.
But I used these moments because the joy in the obvious moments wouldn't get my point across.
The point is you must know how to make a worse situation better.
Marriage ain't easy! But it is worth it.
For better or for worse you gotta stick with it and give it your best every day.
If I'd walked away during the first not so good days I never would have been blessed in so many ways. I wish I could list all the blessings here, but this post would go on forever. I'll just leave you with this thought, God will show favor over those who keep him first.
I am so thankful that God has continued to show favor over our marriage of nine years.

Thank you Lartosha for keeping it real as always...i so agree that Marriage ain't easy! But it is worth it!
It is definitely refreshing to meet a couple who are honest
and keep laughter in their marriage regardless of what the for better, for worse of life has to offer!

Question of the Day:
What helps you and your spouse (fiance, boyfriend)
to keep you going during the for worse parts of your relationships?

I agree as well. It isn't easy but definitely worth it. One of the best decisions of my life. I'm so inspired by this series.

This made me lol a couple of times what a great read and I could sense some southern charm in her writing and this is coming from a girl from the South lol.

Great Job Mrs. P you did it again.

I heartily agree. Marriage is hard work, honestly, its the hardest thing we'll work on, since it takes elblow grease to keep things together.

There are always good times and bad times, and the first year is like a wake up call! (don't get me started there), but it's really worth it.

Awww I love it. Marriage is hard and we both are to blame I think once you can get into a rhythm of each other then things will go semi smoothly

How beautifully written. Marriage is tough and it take two to make it happen. To survive the speed bumps a marriage to throw at you, only makes the marriage bond that much stronger. Great post!

Great post, as a newlywed I knew marriage would be tough but even that didn't prepare for some of the challenges that we have/had to overcome. One thing that helps us is communication. I know it sounds cliche but there are times when we both just want to shut down, but talking about it always helps.

I love "ain't nobody else going to take us in" LOL! I also love that little pic. Ultimately, that's what it boils down to. I'd rather be here than anywhere else...hands down. LOVE it!

I love and really appreciate this post! Especially since I'm still in my first year of marriage and have been experiencing "better or worse" situations. I, too, thought having two adults sharing living quarters meant things would be more tidy, but of course they're not. We smile through the good together and the bad together. And like Latorsha said, it isn't like anyone else is gonna take us in if we don't lol.

Lovely post!

LaTorsha you always put a smile on my face! I love your reactions to the worse, getting a frying pan, hilarious! But on a serious note, spouses really are a gift from God, and when you get through the worse seasons, the better ones come! I've been married 2o years this year and we have been through a lot, but I love my hubby so much more!!! He is definitely a gift from God!

I thank God for the bad times. Sometimes we will lay in the bed and laugh ourselves silly at some of the things we had to do to get by. Sure it wasn't funny then but its funny now. God never left us. We kept at this marriage thing and I am thankful for our rhythm. Marriage is a beautiful thing.

Love is nothing short of a miracle. What Latorsha and her hubby is truly remarkable. I admire marriages which are able to survive life's every tumble. I come from a failed marriage, so reading such stories does inspire me to start anew.
