Secret Newlywed Behaviors: Solo Time

Time for another Secret Newlywed Behavior Confessions.

I remember when i was in high school, i went to a lot of movies by myself!
Yes i was probably a nerd or a loner or both but nonetheless...i really enjoyed my solo time.
In college, i probably spent too much time away pinning away for my home-based boyfriend
which lead me to do a lot of activities on my own.
But again, all these individual activities allowed me to grow.

Before meeting Mr. Pancakes...i was used to doing activities on my own like
movies, dinner, coffee shop and reading books at the local bookstore.
Doing all the things i LOVED.
I am finding it is important to have solo-time as a newlywed
because it makes me a better wife.
It allows me to do activities which i enjoy including having friends outside of my marriage.
Of course it's important to surround yourself with healthy friends.
Recently i went to dinner on my own which was nice.
Doing some pampering activities is also important.
If Mr. Pancakes is unable to go attend church because of work commitments,
i will attend church on my own.
This allows me to grow outside of my husband.
And i find a happy me makes a happy wife which makes a happy husband which makes a happy marriage.

It's all comes together!

Question of the Day:
How Do you spend your Solo-Time?

What is this solo time that you speak of? Before my son was born I mostly just shopped alone. I prefer to meander around stores by myself!

Ha ha, i'm with Natalie...what solo time?? Unfortunately, if I have any solo time, I am usually sleeping, or cleaning...boo!! That's the life of a working momma with a 2 year old!

I have a couple tv shows that are "my" shows. Because we don't have cable, we watch everything on Hulu the day after it airs so I save up my episodes for time when Kyle isn't around and then I veg out with The Voice and Smash (my Monday duo!).

Blogging is mostly a solitary thing for me. And like you, I loooove to go to the movies by myself! It's still one of the things I enjoy doing alone the most.

Before I got married and had my daughter I did so many things by myself. I would go shopping, get my hair done and hang w friends.

Now, I spend my solo time at the gym. I do not get any solo time now that I moved.

SOLO I don't know what that is these days lol but sometimes (usually maybe once a month) I take myself to the movies or go window shopping alone and it gives me so much peace.

Although I don't get much anymore, I spend my solo time in Target!

Alot of my solo time is very mundane - dishes, folding laundry. Sometimes it's watching Vampire Diaries - I tend to like watching TV alone better. Hang out with the dog.

More rarely I play the piano or practice a song for the a capella group.

I think solo time is good. I have never been into going to the movies or dinner alone, but sitting in the coffee shop or going to the mall is something I enjoy.
Be sure to enjoy it!

Solo time is so important! I love to spend it reading, writing and focusing on my identity as an individual, in addition to my identity as a partner.

It is very important. Even for parents! I enjoy kid free nights! Some moms don't like that and I just shake my head. I'm still a woman!
I'm glad you get your alone time away from your husband.

Ah, solo time. It's been a while. LOL! Seriously, I don't do a whole lot by myself. I do get together with friends pretty often. I know I don't take nearly enough "me" time. It doesn't bother me though. I did more of that when I was single and when I was first married. Now I really enjoy being around my little family as much as possible. Enjoy it girlie!! It's so good to take that time when you can. :)

This makes me happy to read. Recently, I've been involved in a few discussions of "solo time" and whether or not its selfish. While I'm not married, I do appreciate the need to have some Me time.

P.S. I love your pics- they're gorgeous.

I sound my solo time watching RHOA, BBW, or Thrifting! Thrifting being mt favorite. A couple of hours roaming the store rejuvenated me. It's hard getting real me time so whenever it happens I feel like I've been on a vacation.

During my solo time I love to read, blog and watch TV! Rod plays Halo! We both need and love our solo time! :)

Solo time for me usually involves thrifting or roaming the stores or book store. I don't get as much solo time as I would like but I make it count when i do. I agree that people need to grow outside of their spouses. So many women give their all to their husbands and before they realize it they have singled out everyone. I have to work at getting those moments to myself but they matter for me as a person, wife and mother.

I love solo time I use to go to the movies every Thursday when I was in college and sometimes I would be the only one. Good times.
