This title speaks to an incident which occurred recently
while i was driving on a main road near my neighborhood.
I saw about four to six deer trying to cross the road.
I was completely taken aback because i have heard of this
BUT never actually encountered them before.
In a lot of ways....i was a little sad because it made me realized...
THEY WERE HERE BEFORE US.
I am no animal advocate by any means but it hit me
when i saw the family of deer trying to cross the busy road...
(One of the deer didn't make it across because he was too late crossing the road)
...It hit me that our current neighborhoods before were all of forestry
and vegetation and animals roamed clear and free
AND here we are invading their space and taking over their natural habitats.
They are roaming and wondering trying to figure what to do...
I am not even sure what we can do at this rate
but seeing them crossing the road made me feel guilty in a big way.
Another time while walking, i saw a group of deer walking in a neighborhood.
I am not even sure where they live or get their food...
but it gave me pause because it made me think,
"Which one of us doesn't belong, Me or Them?"

I love deers but I wish they never would run into the light of cars because I remember a time I was with my cousin I must of been 17 and she hit one oh my goodness you could here it and from that day I hate seeing them on the road side...They are cute looking....
I hate seeing deer get hit. Or any animal for that matter. So sad.
Poor deer. I wish there were a way to avoid such things...
I totally understand this feeling. I live in an area where we see deer regularly too and it always makes me wonder where they have found to live with all our houses and buildings in the way.
I definitely relate and understand. I love animals and think it's so sad that we've taken over so much of their habitat.
I totally relate, I live in an area were there's lots of woods and room for animals to roam. I feel like it was their place first and we should be respectful of that.
I can relate. Do you by chance live in North Carolina. LOL.
I can't relate, living in the concrete jungle and all but it DOES make me sad that happened :(
Definitely feel for the animals when new complexes go up
Thanks for stopping by my blog:) Thought I'd return, and visit yours!!
Being an animal lover, I totally feel this post. I think of animals in a whole new way since becoming a dog owner.
i get you on the fact that before us it was theirs.
one thing i love about canada is the love for conservation. there are many national parks where animals are the kings of their own kingdom. and in banff they've constructed upper bridges for them and the animals can move from one side to the other with less incidents
deer really are quite beautiful. i do wish we could co-exist without harm to the gorgeous animals... i'm not giving up hope... sigh, maybe someday?
