The Celebrity Gossip Diet

Have you heard of the Celebrity Gossip Diet?
You probably haven't because i just made it up.

I am addicted to reading about celebrity gossip...
i just want to know what is going on with them.
When did Jessica Simpson have her baby? What's the baby's name?
Is Kanye West really dating Kim while she is still technically married?
What's going on with Halle Berry and her child custody issues?
Is Guiliana and Bill Rancic's baby due the same month Baby Pancakes is due?
And the list goes on and on.

The stupid and mundane things i want to know about these celebrities.
Not that i know them but i think for me it's about being nosey
and just wanting to know what the rich and fabulous are doing in their lives.
Don't get me wrong, i am also interested in politics,
world news, social justice and what is happening in our economy
however those things sometimes are more depressing than i can muster.
So i defer to reading celebrity news because that stuff is all fluff
and can be turned off and on very easily.

Plus there is something telling about watching the rich and fabulous
NOT doing so fabulous sometimes and the reminder
that celebrities are really just like us in terms of problems.
Only they can throw money at it, live in fancy houses and fly in private jets.

BUT as i am approaching motherhood and actually having my baby here with me...
i am thinking i need to go on a Celebrity Gossip Diet!

Not to NEVER read or indulge in celebrity gossip
BUT to refrain from it and allow my mind to be on more
important topics like lactation and sleeping techniques and learn substantial things
so i can have something interesting to teach my baby.
It's also about going on this  diet so that i can be a model for my child.
I don't want my child to think sensationalize news is the way to go.
I want him to know there is more to this world than celebrity-ism and what is happening in their lives.
I want my baby to know there is substance in the world/society and it starts with me.

There is definitely many a things to learn in the world and it doesn't begin with celebrity gossip!

Question of the Day:
Have you ever gone on a Celebrity Gossip Diet?

It seems when I have a moment free at work I'm checking people.com and CNN.com. So it kinda evens out, right? Ha ha

It is so easy to get caught up in celeb gossip! I haven't really been following that much lately, but I do enjoy reading about celeb weddings and royal news, just for fun.

I didn't know this about you! We could have been swapping juicy celeb gossip for months! I could never go on a celeb gossip diet. It's in my blood. I even got to realize my dream of being a celeb gossip writer for a few weeks for a e-zine, but then it went bust

i use to be really into celebrity gossip ... had the subscription for US Weekly and everything. then i decided it wasn't for me anymore. i no longer have this urge to know much of the gossip and i no longer have a celebrity gossip subscription. and i like it this way.

but this isn't to say that i don't enjoy some hot news every once in a while, afterall i am human :)

When I find myself talking about celebs more than real life, I know it is time for a diet. I try to shy away from the gossip magazines and celebrity news so I do not draw myself into it.

oh gosh, i don't know if i could ever go on a celebrity gossip diet! it's what gets me through my day. perhaps having a baby will just keep you too busy to get around to it, but i'd like to think even then when the babies asleep i'd sacrifice my nap time for some light reading ;)

I never really get into the celebrity gossip so I guess I don't need to be on that particular diet...

Lol! I too, am a a celebrity gossip addict! Now I only allow myself to flip quickly through a magazine in the grocery store line or quickly glance at the "yahoo" headlines. It's better that way. :)
Knowing you, I think your child will have a wonderful role model! No worries! :)

I have tried a Celebrity Gossip diet. But I did give up soap operas completely after my son was born. They were sucking the life out of me as I was trying to plan my day around them...back before dvr's and tivo!

It's addictive, isn't it? Maybe that's what Philippians 4:8 is taking about. What always amazes me is that in spite of their life of luxury they are less satisfied and peaceful than I am. What a difference it would be if they knew our God.

I have actually. I used to be completely addicted to Celebrity Gossip. I subscribed toat least 4 gossip magazines and bought the ones I didn't subscribe to. Couldn't get enough. But I made myself cut back and now I only get my US Weekly :) Good luck! xoxo

I agree...I think that a lot of people love reading celebrity gossip because they get to see that celebrities are really nothing special. They go through the same problems as normal people, because they are normal people...with A LOT more money!

And forgive me, I have not been in bloggy land for a while...I am just now reading about soon-to-be baby Pancakes! Just want to say congratulations!!! So excited for you and I can't wait to read more about your pregnancy on your blog. Hope you're having a good week!

~xoxo~
