Why can't people be more considerate?
I was at a training today and realized people do not know how to use their phones.
Specifically their smart phones...
because even though the trainers requested for
EVERYONE TO TURN THEIR PHONES OFF...
people's phones continued to buzz, ping, boing
and make every other noise you can imagine except silence and or vibration.
In all honesty, it was annoying as heck trying to listen to the trainers
while people's phones were going off every few seconds.
It's not only inconsiderate, disrespectful but also rude.
One lady had no clue how to use her phone.
She had the hardest time trying to turn off whatever show she was watching.
I felt like screaming, "Learn to use your phone!"
I can appreciate there are a million and one buttons on most smart phones
and it can be difficult to learn each function.
However, there are manuals that teach us how to use each button.
And MOST times, the easiest functions are the off, on and vibrate buttons.
Usually on the face of the phone or on the side.
Trust me, it's there!
I work with one lady who NEVER turns off her phone during staff meetings.
Another one whose phone must be scheduled to ring at a certain time
because it goes off around the same time each week.
Another one whose phone goes off during church.
Every. Single. Sunday!
Is it really that difficult to turn your phone off at certain times?!
I mean at least put it on silent, vibrate or mute.
Just to be courteous!
I have a Smart Phone and learned to use all the buttons
because that's just the right thing to do.
If I am going to own something, it's important i know how to use.
And i would encourage everyone
(not any of my blogger buddies but the ladies at the training, work and church)
to learn the functions of your Smart Phone at least the off, on and vibrate buttons.
I'm just saying...turn off your phone & be considerate!!

Whoa. Who the heck brings a phone to church? I always left mine in the car...
and I always... ALWAYS keep my iPhone on vibrate. Even when I am at home. Nothing is more annoying than a cell phone boing, buzzing, blipping.... all the time!
I feel ya on the girl!
I was training a class last week and I always give the"turn off or vibrate spill" at the beginning...this ladies phone kept going off and my co facilitator asked her to please turn her phone off, she said I just took it to my desk, which implied to me she couldn't figure it out...I agree, its nuts. Read the manual do a tutorial or something...
Ugh I completely agree!!! I have the hardest time giving lectures when rude students have their crazy rings going off! So frustrating!
People are so rude. I also can't stand when people talk on their phones loud or when trying to order at a restaurant.
Girl u so right!!! And what about the people who talk super loud on their phone. I was on an elevator full of people and this chick let her phone ring incessantly, then she finally answered it and proceeded to speak at the top of her voice!!! Needless to say it was rye longest elevator ride ever!
Oh I totally agree, although I do have to admit sometimes I get a little board sitting in trainigs so I play on my phone to keep me busy. I do turn off the sound and ringers though!! You know what irkes me the most, is when I have someone who makes a huge deal about meeting with me, and then they text and talk on their phone. I feel like saying what's the point of you wanting to meet me! Especially, when it's a work meeting, why have me set aside time to meet with you, if your going to be on your phone!
AGREED!!!!!
The worst is when their phone starts ringing, they don't hear it, but everyone else does and is staring at them. Then they finally realize it's them, and they get their phone out of their purse, look at it, then proceed to freak out because they don't know how to shut it off!
You're right-the Sounds/Vibrate button is right on the side of my phone-up for louder and down for quiet or silent! NOT HARD PEOPLE!
I really enjoy my smart phone, but the more I'm around them, the more I try to be careful when I use mine. It's not just the buzzing, etc., but it's people checking facebook, looking at their fantasy teams, and checking messages while we are talking. Makes me want to take a phone and throw it. It's like we can't handle having all that info available all the time.
So frustrating when people are so inconsiderate of others :(
I'll be the first to admit that I love, love, love my phone. BUT... I can not STAND it when other people are so inconsiderate and flat out rude when I am in a training, meeting, conference, or otherwise in a space where we shouldn't be focusing on our phones. UGH! I don't think a facilitator should have to ask people not to use their phones more than once. Actually, it should be a given -- turn your friggin phone OFF or put it on silent when you're in a training. Okay... *end rant*
I completely agree! It gets me when people are talking thru movies at the theater or texting and their screens light up the whole place.
I had a table today. A man and a woman. And I swear he spent more time on his phone than talking to her. He even went outside several times. It was SO FRUSTRATING. She looked miserable. And I was annoyed because he was pretty much ignoring me.
Seriously, how hard is it to turn your phone off for 30 minutes!?
Seriously I hate that. My phone is perpetually silent (which actually annoys my husband because I can be slow to respond) but I prefer it that way for my sake and those around me. The worst is people who have conversations in the restroom!
Anyhoo, happy weekend!

Ok that is common courtesy. Phones should be on vibrate or silent while in the office.
I'm right there with you lady it's pretty obnoxious when people don't shut their phones off!
ugh...I hear you on this one! I usually always have my phone with me, but I keep it on complete silence...no ringing, no vibrating...and I don't check it every 5 minutes either!! I would never bring it into a staff meeting though! Our boss does, and he's constantly interrupting our meetings when he gets calls. It's so rude!

Oh man... I am so not a cell phone person! I always joke that I have a caveman cell. Doesn't flip, slide or take pics. But with everyone being so attached to their phones it makes one wonder how people survived back in the days when the only phone they had was attached to their wall. :)
