Fifty Shades of Grey....

I've got nothing today to write about really.
Just got back into town and still have yet to settle long
enough to get some pictures and words together to talk about my trip to TN.
I LOVED it by the way!!!!!!!!
It was everything i was hoping for and more.
But more on that later.

Onto today's nothing in particular but perhaps interesting post.
Something caught my ears this morning on my drive into work.

I heard a conversation about the pros and cons of Fifty Shades of Grey.
There are definitely a lot of hoopla around the book.
The erotica.  The affiar. The romance.  The storyline.
There are definitely many reasons to hate and love it at the same time.
I have not read it but i know many of my fellow bloggers are reading and talking about it.
Therefore i thought i would put the question out there...
to see if i need to join in the hoopla around this book!

Why are you reading Fifty Shades of Grey?
Should i bother?

I just finished reading the book and I loved it. I have heard a lot of good and bad things about it and to be honest it really comes down to the person. If erotic fiction is not your thing, pass. If you will get up in arms about how it turned you on and its a bad thing that it did, pass. If you want to read a fluffy erotic book and just enjoy the reading then go for it.

I started reading it because I had heard several other bloggers comment on how erotic it was, and that they even had to skip over some parts. I wanted to see if it was really that bad. Plus, I don't mind a good, juicy book once in awhile :)

So far I'm through the first two books in the trilogy and just started the third. It's not the most cleverly written book, and the author uses a lot of the same words over and over again. Overall, I like it and have recommended it to several people. I think if you go in knowing that it's like hard core porn written on paper, you'll get through it fine. It's easy to get lost in the story and scenes, and it an easy read.

Can't wait to hear about your trip!

I definitely agree with Nicole! Not the most cleverly written book, sometimes I get angry with her because of the words/grammar she uses...but the story in general, I'm kind of enjoying. Of course, I find myself blushing even when I'm just reading it all alone with no one in sight, but I've enjoyed the story behind the whole erotica portion!

i am only half way through it ... so i am still a bit 50/50 ... maybe it gets better at the ending ... i'll let you know :)

i will say that the writing is a bit amateur .. although, i'm not really one to talk, haha.

I'm wondering the same thing!

Today is the Fifty Shades day apparently! Yours is the third post I've seen about the book today. I even wrote a review of the first book myself! It's up on the blog right now. I wouldn't get my hopes up for anything life-changing with these books, but they're entertaining enough and they're quick reads!

I just got it over the weekend as a digital download from my library. So far, I'm not really feeling it. It's a little too poorly written to actually entertain me. I have no doubt that it is quite erotic, but I don't think I can get past the bad writing.

I think you already saw my post about this series. I think the dialogue at the end -- indicating that an unborn child "likes sex already" -- is completely sick and deranged. I also think the entire series promotes misogyny and abuse.

You can read it quickly, but the writing is SO bad. Like really shouldnt have been published, bad. So if that is something that bothers you, don't read it. I read the first and had no desire to continue. It is a lot of sex surrounded by a lot of fluff.

I love twilight so I am sure I would like 50 shades but I have not read it as of yet. I have heard more good than bad though

I kind of can see what the hoopla is and I kinda can't. I read the books...all three in a week. With that said I read just about anything. I loved the books but there are very few books I read and don't like, else I never finish reading them. With that said I have to agree with Kate the writing is bad. Like seriously the editor should have been shot on sight cause there are so many grammatical errors and such that I was pretty shocked.
With regards to all the shock surrounding the book I don't see why people are bashing it, its really much milder than Anne Rice's Taming Beauty. With that said, its not a book for everyone. This sort of lifestyle is real, its alternative and its not for everyone.

I just started the trilogy. I have blushed a few times, but have loved the story line!

Unless you want to kill a few brain cells don't read Fifty. It's awful and totally not worth it.

I am on book #3. That being said, it's not the BEST writing out there, but the story is interesting. It's a good mindless summer read.

It only took me a couple of days to read it. It was, as another comment said an easy read. But not very well written. She's clearly not a writer but she did have a fantasy she put out there for all to read. And I posted about this a little on my blog - I think the reason its getting so much publicity has more to do with the demographic that is perceived to be reading it. But overall I did enjoy it and am on the waiting list for book 2. I enjoyed it enough to read book 2 but not enough to buy it unless I decide to get the trilogy!

I haven't read the book, but I have heard about it. And heard about it. And heard about it. From like, everyone. lol.

I read the entire trilogy and loved them. The sexual parts got old after a while, but I found myself wanting to find out more about Christian. Everyone doesn't have the same taste in books, so I always recommend reading the book summary and decide for yourself if it sounds like something you'd enjoy. It's become one of the fastest selling books in history, so surely millions of us can't be wrong... can we? lol
