Friday Funnies: Half Marathon Training

Hello Friday...you definitely came right on time...
Thank you kindly!

I am supposed to run a 6miler this morning..hopefully i survive to talk about it tomorrow.
Training for a half-marathon is NO joke!
My mantra while running is this:

"body don't fail me know...my brain knows you are NOT tired"
and it works most of the way..

I have been using Hal Higdon training which has been great.
I am following it as close as possible however my eating habits suck!
Anyone knows a good eating program while training for a half marathon?

And just because the following commercial has the dude running,
i thought it would be appropriate for today's Friday Funnies!

He is too funny this guy!

From what I gather, you've got to be wearing a super 80's pink headband while you train. It will help you run faster ;-) Good for you girl, you're so inspiring!

Wow! That's so dope that you'll be running in a half marathon. I def hope to do something like that one of these days.

Have a great run today!

That sounds fun, I can't wait to start working out. I am giving myself another week off.

Good luck with your training :).

Chicken and salad works wonders.

I think you'd be OK following any kind of diet you choose that works for you. The only concern would be fueling a bit around longer runs (~1:30 or longer). If you were doing some kind of low-carb diet you might up the carbs a bit prior to a run or post-run. You have to play around with it and see how your energy levels respond.

HAHAHA omg this is my favorite Mayhem commercial. I love it! Best of luck on your training and you are absolutely right, you have to train your brain to not give up. Your body will see you through to the finish line :)

when i train for half marathons and full marathons, i usually eat 6 times a day: oatmeal, greek yog w/fruit, cheese w/ apple + nutbutter, salad w/ protein + soup, protein shake, protein + veg. it kept me full for those long runs!!

Good luck! Running is my peace on earth. ;) I ran 6 miles today too - how did yours go? I got rained on, which here in Arizona is rare, but still ok since it's 65 degrees! I love your mantra. The ability to run the extra mile lies between your ears! ;)

Awesome!!!! Keep it up!! You can do it!!!! I love to run, it gives me so much "freedom", I haven't been doing as much of it as I used to, but I just downloaded the Couch to 5k program and entered myself in a chocolate race ha ha so I need to get on it!!!
