Served Before his Birthday...

Hello....one more day before July 4th!

I wasn't going to get into another Hollywood divorce but i couldn't help it!
As you all know...Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are disolving their five year marriage.
At least Katie wants to disolve the marriage.

Now we don't know the REAL reasons for the divorce despite all the speculations...
all we know is that she served him divorce documents...
in New York instead of Los Angeles (apparently it makes a big difference)
while he was traveling for work
and days before his birthday...

This is what i wanted to ask this morning...
Was she being spiteful serving him divorce papers days before his birthday?

Not any birthday but the man's 50th birthday!
I can only imagine the anxiety one feels with their 50th birthday approaching
but then to realize the stability you thought you had at home in your family has been shattered?
I am just thinking...that was not cool of Ms. Holmes to serve him documents before his birthday.
But then again, is there ever a good time to ask someone for a divorce?

I don't know because I've never been there before
BUT i am just thinking there is a time and place for everything.
After five years of marriage and six years of raising a daugther together....
i hope i would have the courtesy to ask for a a divorce AFTER we have celebrated his birthday.
Clearly, she has been planning the divorce all this time
because if not she would have been planning his 50th birthday bash.
Now for the rest of his life...Mr. Cruise will forever associate his
5th decade of life with the ending of his marriage.
I am all for a woman's right to decide...

i am just wondering if Ms. Holmes could have been a little more sensitive?!
Happy Birthday Tom Cruise!

Any thoughts?

To serve him like that she had to be really hurt because she wanted to somehow hurt him a little...I am just guessing but it's sad I feel bad for the little girl hopefully they can do this peacefully.

I heard he was possibly threatening to enroll Suri in a scientology boot camp, so I'm guessing Katie may have had to act quickly to file the paperwork, though I of course don't know the specifics. I guess it is completely possible she timed it this way on purpose. Sadly, I think it was only a matter of time for these two. I mean, did they really expect their marriage to last if she had misgivings about his religious views and how they would raise their child?

I gave her the side eye when I found out today was his his birthday. But in thinking about this (I have no idea why I even gave them my thoughts) I came up with this: because they are high profile celebrities wtih lots of money and assests it took a while for her lawyer to draft the papaers. Everything had to be just right especially with Suri involved and when they were done- she didn't want to waste another second! Also, some states carry some prerequisites before petitioning for divorce (I'm embarrassed to admit I know this) for instance in one state you gave to be legally separated for at least a year before you can file so if this were their case maybe it was a year to the day.

It really is unfortunate that he has to associate this birthday milestone with the unpleasantries of divorce but something tells me he knew this was coming!

The thing is... sometimes when it's done it's done. You don't want to wait another day because you want it OVER.

My ex and I decided to end things RIGHT before my birthday and before our wedding anniversary. But it was just time.

I don't think she did it to be spiteful, I think she did it because it was time.

I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner actually.

The only thing I could think of is that things were getting ugly and she really didn't care to be concerned about the timing for him. When emotions are involved any sense of decency sometimes gets tossed out the window. I was kinda bummed to hear this 'cause I like to think that SOMEONE will last but at the same time not surprised.

yeah, I agree with a lot of these girls. I don't think it was spiteful, but rather it finally came about right around his birthday. I have no doubt this wasn't a I want to divorce right here right now spontaneous thing, so I'm sure things were brewing and getting made official and the timing just happened to be right around his 50th.

Aww... Happy Birthday Tom Cruise! I heard (from my boyfriend who does not follow celebrities) that Tom was controlling of her movie roles, etc. Also because she doesnt want Suri to be a scientoligist. Because she has a brain.

Great post, my dear!

I must admit I am one that did not think their marriage was real. When I heard the news I just thought it was the end of their marriage "contract".

I gotta say that he wasn't that sensitive to Nicole Kidman when he divorced her just shy of the 10 year mark so that she couldn't get half of all he made.

What goes around come around right?

Thanks for stopping by today:)

i think he must have known it was coming or if he didnt then that just proves they were never compatible anyway!! that scientology lot gives me the willie tbh i would have run in the other direction a long time ago!!

Katie Holmes converted to Scientology before marrying Tom Cruise. If she had concerns about the religion, why convert? I think there must be more going on behind the scenes. Either way, no Hollywood marriage is safe from divorce so I guess it was about time for those two. Now if only it can be done without any animosity...

I think Hollywood doesn't care about feelings. About kindness. About anything really. So I am not surprised, not in the least.
